Message of peace – carol singers visiting Sobotka in parliament

National Council President Wolfgang Sobotka received carolers from the Waidhofen an der Ybbs parish in Parliament today. The children conveyed their message of peace to Sobotka and the House for the year 2022 and asked for support for the indigenous peoples in the Brazilian Amazon rainforest. Sobotka made a donation and hoped that the children would “find open doors everywhere in Austria”.

Sobotka thanked the young Catholic crowd for the civil society commitment of the Three Kings Action and presented a donation. “It cannot be taken for granted that people go from house to house year after year, convey an awareness of solidarity and ask for donations for those who urgently need it. The Dreikönigsaktion thrives on volunteer work. I hope you will find open doors everywhere in Austria ”, said the President of the National Council. Until January 9th, children of the Catholic youth group go from house to house in Austria as Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar and collect donations for people in need. This year, the donations will primarily benefit indigenous peoples in the Brazilian Amazon rainforest. “Need more community” “The carol singers bring the blessing and the Christmas message of peace. We also need more community and real togetherness – in Austria, in Europe, all over the world. At this year’s carol-singing campaign, we are especially at the side of the indigenous peoples in the Brazilian Amazon region, “said the chairwoman of the Catholic youth group, Teresa Millesi. According to tradition, the first visit of the carol-singers yesterday was Cardinal Christoph Schönborn.
