Meta boss Mark Zuckerberg wants to overshadow the headset Apple Vision Pro. And for this, it is counting on the collaboration of the South Korean giant LG.

For the past month, when we think of virtual reality headsets, it is the Apple Vision Pro that first appears in the public’s minds (even if it is more specifically a mixed reality headset). A situation that the Meta group, already at the origin of the Meta Quest 3 VR headset, wants to counter, and which wishes to develop a credible competitor to this product. To do this, the American group would like to benefit from LG’s skills.

Mark Zuckerberg arrives in South Korea

A summit meeting will take place this week in South Korea. According to information from Korea Economic DailyMeta boss Mark Zuckerberg will travel to the land of morning calm this Wednesday, February 28, to meet LG CEO Cho Joo-wan.

The two leaders should together formalize a partnership between their companies, the objective of which is to give birth to a mixed reality headset. They would thus reach the end of a collaboration imagined almost six months ago to compete with Apple.

LG could help do better than the Meta Quest

The objective of the two giants would be to pool the excellence of each in their respective fields. Meta would bring its knowledge in AI and in the field of mixed reality while LG could develop a hardware part better than that present in the Meta Quest 3. The American firm is also considering the possibility of adapting the webOS operating system present in LG televisions to its future headphones.

According to the information which has so far leaked onto the web, the helmet which will be produced by the two giants should see the light of day by 2025. We will therefore have to be patient, which, it is worth noting, Mark Zuckerberg was not, since he couldn’t help but produce a video in February in which he attacked the Apple Vision Pro. The next few years should be tense!
