Meta announces the layoff of 10,000 additional employees

The bloodletting never ends in tech, and particularly at Meta, the parent company of Facebook. As announced by various media across the Atlantic, Mark Zuckerberg announced on Tuesday March 14 that a second wave of massive layoffs was going to take place. This time it concerns 10,000 employees, after the dismissal of 11,000 employees at the end of 2022. Mark Zuckerberg once again split a long post on Facebook to justify this social plan.

“With fewer hires, I have made the difficult decision to further reduce the size of our recruiting team. We will update recruiting team members tomorrow if they are impactedsaid the boss of Meta. We expect to announce restructuring and layoffs in our technology groups at the end of April, and then in our business groups at the end of May. In a small number of cases, these changes will be staggered until the end of the year. Our schedules for international teams will also be different and local leaders will provide more details. Overall, we plan to reduce the size of our team by approximately 10,000 people and close approximately 5,000 additional vacancies that we have not yet filled.”.
