Meta Quest Pro: Meta lifts the veil on its new price and consoles first-time buyers as best it can

Meta recently announced the generous price reduction of its Quest 2 And Pro, but until then, the price of the latter was not yet known in our regions. Today is March 15, 2023 and the curtain is up. So what to expect?

Displayed at its release at a price of €1,799 on our side of the Atlantic, now the standard-bearer of the Meta Quest sees his price officially drop, and this in a drastic way to the delight of those who had missed out for obvious budgetary reasons, but also to the great displeasure of the first buyers. The flagship of the brand therefore suffers a price reduction of around 33%, bringing it down to €1,199. It is a substantial financial effort on the part of Big Bluebut the majority of people will mainly see here a business strategy that is a bit wobbly and ominous.

The new price of the Quest Pro is very correct in our opinionknowing that he is equipped with what is best today for a stand-alone helmet in its segment. It embeds a chip Snapdragon XR2+lentils pancakessurely the best on the market, a FOV very appreciable, a design pleasing to the eye and very contained, but also undeniable advantages, which it is difficult to condense in 1,199 €. These are of course the new stand-alone controllers, theEye Tracking (almost unused, we grant you) and mouth tracking.

However, our question concerns the choice of Meta to have sold it at a high price from the start, thus closing the doors to very many buyers and having silenced the hype. Its bargain price now makes it accessible in its positioning and its services, but the Quest 3, which should be announced around 500 to 600 euros at the end of 2023, should find a much larger audience. Even if the latter were freed from eye and mouth tracking, it would still have better definition and a chip Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 almost twice as efficient than what the Quest 2 And PICO 4. THE Quest Pro would he have been nipped in the bud?

2quest support

But what about the people who bought it full pot? Well, nothing has been released officially, but the support Meta ([email protected]) is listening to your complaints and, without hesitation, should offer you €95 (€90 in the capture) credit for the Meta Quest Store (to be used within 1 year). We welcome this commercial gesture and in general after-sales service Meta who continues to prove that he is good, even very good. This is only a very meager consolation, especially since we are therefore far from the famous 33% lost in the exchange on D-Day. Obtaining a credit note for the purchase of the Quest 3 would have been more relevant from our point of view and would have facilitated our adherence to this future helmet, but what do you want… Many Internet users have been able to obtain “reparation”. It is in no way an exceptional character as mentioned in the email.
