Metaverse: the Smart City first imagines in 3D


Still in a state of utopia, “smart cities” could see the light of day thanks to their digital twin.

A city without traffic congestion, with optimized public transport networks, easy-to-find parking, public services sized to meet the needs of the population … the Smart City, or intelligent city, is adorned with all the virtues. But it remains in the state of utopia without a strong digitalization of its management. The digital twin, professional version of the metaverse, even appears as the condition sine qua non when it is put in place.

If experiments are being carried out in France, in Rennes, Dijon or Angers, the most advanced achievements are to be sought outside our borders. Singapore is one of the most successful examples. Its digital twin integrates information on buildings, transport, parks and gardens, underground networks, etc. City managers keep an eye on everything.
