Big critical and commercial success last year, Metroid Dread has already received several free updates adding content, such as difficulty modes Terror and Novice last February. But for months, players have been waiting for the arrival of the mode Boss Rushit is finally available.
nintendo just launched the 2.1 update of Metroid Dreadthus adding three game modes, including Serial bosses, but not only. Here’s what’s new:
Worm. 2.1.0 (Released April 7, 2022)
New modes added
Three different boss rush modes have been added to the game. Press the R button on the “Samus Files” screen to switch to the Serial Boss selection screen.
Serial bosses*
- A mode where players fight 12 bosses continuously and aim for the best time.
- Any damage suffered is carried over to the next fight. Weapons are fully restored between battles.
- If Samus is defeated, players can select “Retry” to continue playing from the start of the fight they lost.
- Bosses fought in Serial Boss Mode can be fought one-on-one at any time by selecting “Train”.
- *Mode unlocked by beating the main game once. (In case a player completed the game before the update was released, they will be able to play Serial Boss Mode immediately after the update).
Survival Rush*:
- A mode where players see how many bosses they can defeat within 5 minutes.
- Any damage received or weapons expended carry over to the next battle. Even if there is time left on the clock, defeating Samus will result in a Game Over.
- Defeating a boss will add a fixed duration to the countdown. Defeat a boss without taking damage to receive an even bigger time bonus.
- *Survival Rush mode is unlocked by completing Serial Boss or Serial Terror.
serial terror*:
- The basic rules are the same as in Serial Boss mode, but if Samus is hit by a boss, her energy drops to zero and she is defeated.
- Bosses fought in Serial Terror can be fought one-on-one at any time by selecting “Train”.
- *Mode unlocked by beating the main game using Terror Mode. (If a player completed Terror Mode before the update was released, they will be able to play Serial Terror Mode immediately after the update).
