Métropole de Lyon Former mayor of Ecully, Yves-Marie Uhlrich leaves the UDI and signs with Edouard Philippe

The former mayor of Écully and metropolitan councilor Yves-Marie Uhlrich has decided not to renew his membership of the UDI for 2022. And to resign from the opposition group “Rassemblement de la droit, du center et de la société civile » where he sat in the Metropolis to join the centrist group of Gérard Collomb “Inventing the Metropolis of Tomorrow” chaired by Louis Pelaez.

At the national level, Yves-Marie Uhlrich also joins the “Horizons” party created by former Prime Minister Edouard Philippe.

“Continue my commitment and my political action”

“I made the choice to turn to a new gathering force, moderate, humanist, attached to the unity and cohesion of our country. […] This approach will allow me to continue my commitment and my political action, more particularly at the level of the western Lyon area, in the continuity of what I accomplished as mayor of Écully from 2001 to 2020 “, in particular detailed the centrist in a communicated.

Ideas for the future ?

A first step towards a candidacy for the legislative elections under the double hat En Marche / Horizons? The elected official had already tried his luck in 2007 in the 5th district of the Rhône: at the time, Yves-Marie Uhlrich emerged from the UDF and had been beaten by the mayor of Caluire, the UMP (now LR) Philippe Cochet … today boss of the right and center group of the Metropolis.

Chances of politics, Yves-Marie Uhlrich will find at Horizons the former socialist and elected opposition representative in Tassin-la-Demi-Lune, Julien Ranc who announced his rallying in the middle of the week.
