Metropolis of Lyon A lot of smoke and imposing flames: in Feyzin, the flares have returned to service

The platform restarted its installations at the beginning of June, gradually.

This Monday, the effects were observed on the flares, which spit flames and smoke, visible from afar. But nothing dangerous or exceptional, said Total.

At the time of the restart, TotalEnergies had warned that “during unit shutdown or restart maneuvers, the site’s torches may be more stressed than during normal operation. The flares are safety devices for managing excess gas. As these cannot be stored or released in a gaseous state into the atmosphere, they must be evacuated via the flare, which can generate smoke and noise in episodes”.

This project has been the subject of an investment of 63 million euros.
