Michael Dierks is now a British citizen. In an interview, the actor reveals that there are also professional reasons behind it.

“Unter uns” star Michael Dierks (50) officially received British citizenship on Tuesday. “Now I have two homes, the old and the new”, the actor told the “Bild” newspaper.

In a solemn ceremony he was awarded the official document for naturalization in London’s Old Marylebone Town Hall in Westminster. The actor has lived half in England and half in Germany for eight years. Professionally, Dierks expects better opportunities from now on. “Now Brexit can no longer harm me and I can continue to move freely in the international film business,” he emphasized.

The registration alone cost him 2,000 British pounds – “actually unbelievable, but true. Fortunately, I passed the test with flying colors,” said Dierks about the naturalization. When the national anthem rang out at the ceremony, he realized how British he had been since childhood: “From my style of clothing to the penny loafers to the music and my mourning for Lady Diana.”

Michael Dierks became known through the role of the gay neighbor Sascha in the comedy series “Hausmeister Krause”, in which he played from 2003 to 2009. He has been part of the RTL series “Unter uns” since April of this year.
