Michaela May has two reasons to celebrate life: The actress is not only looking forward to her 70th birthday, but also to her fourth grandchild.

On Friday, March 18, 2022, Michaela May will celebrate a milestone birthday. The actress turns 70. For this special occasion, husband Bernd Schadewald, 71, surprised her with a trip to Taormina in Sicily, as she tells in an interview with “Bild”. She loves Italy, “language, food, wine, lifestyle,” she reveals.

However, the “greatest gift” for the TV star is “that I will soon be a grandmother for the fourth time. I’m really happy”. From her first marriage to lawyer Jack Schiffer, May has two daughters, Alexandra, 39, who lives in London, and Lilian, 33, who lives in Munich with her husband. Both also work as actresses.

Despite great success in German television and theater productions such as “Der Bergdoktor”, “Die Gottes Sophie” or “Polizeiruf 110”, family is Michaela May’s top priority. This may not least be due to the fact that it has had to cope with heavy losses in the past. As the 69-year-old recently revealed, her two brothers and sister had taken their own lives as a result of depression at a young age.

Michaela May: “I was just lucky”

It is all the more important for the actress to spend time with her family. After her return from Sicily, there is also a weekend with her daughters and grandchildren in Tyrol, where she toasts to her 70th birthday – and to life. Michaela May arrived at the age of almost 70, so the number 70 doesn’t scare her either. “I’m healthy, I’m happy and I can still play. I’ve just been lucky,” she explains.
