Michel Cymes victim of a sexual assault at 11 years old: his revelations on this painful memory

It is this Wednesday, October 5, 2022 that the book is released Nothing is impossible. My story could be yours to Stock editions. A work in which Michael Cymes gives himself openly to different moments of his life. For the occasion, he was the guest of Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine in It’s up to you (France 5) Tuesday 4 October. And he made a chilling revelation about his past.

The 65-year-old presenter confided as rarely in his latest book. He revealed that fourteen years ago, he fought in the greatest secrecy against kidney cancer. A disease that he preferred to hide, even from his relatives. This subject, Michel Cymes evoked it during his passage in It’s up to you. But he also spoke of a painful memory that has haunted him since his childhood, that of a sexual assault which he said nothing about for several years. When he was 11 years old, the most famous doctor in the PAF was taking math support lessons at home with a teacher. “What’s crazy is that he’s next to me. We live in a 60m2 apartment so my mother is next door. The door is closed so my brother won’t bother us.“, he first contextualized.

Michel Cymes then explained that in the middle of the course, the teacher in question began to slip by asking him a very intimate question: “Have you ever masturbated?“.”At 11, it’s not a primary concern“, he continued before explaining that afterwards, the math teacher let him know that he was going to show him how it was done. “Do you want to do it to me?“, he then questioned him. Aware that something was wrong, Michel Cymes immediately said no then quickly left his room. He later assured his parents that he no longer needed those classes.

I don’t think it traumatized me. On the other hand, the image, it is there. I can still see the scene. I see the space which it is. I see myself behind this little boy. It’s very weird. (…) I see the scene with hindsight today“, concluded the husband of Nathalie.
