The visible suffering of the people
Revealing his vision of society, Michel Onfray confided that he did not believe “in the providential man, but in the providential people”.
According to the philosopher, the French people suffer from the society in which they find themselves. “We can clearly see the suffering of a people who love politics and their country and who do not want to give up”.
A suffering which is explained, for Michel Onfray, by the fact that we “are no longer in a democracy”, nor even in a Republic”. “Everyone only has that word in their mouths, but the Republic is not that,” he added.

Indeed, Michel Onfray questioned the sovereignty of France, left, according to him, in the hands of Brussels. A situation against which he intends not to be silent. “Since 1992, I have been fighting against this Europe of Maastricht which is destroying peoples, nations, cultures, which is advancing towards wokism, cancel culture and political correctness”.
In an election marked by the proliferation of left-wing candidates, Michel Onfray felt that “there were interesting things with Fabien Roussel”.
The representative of the Communist Party would release, according to him, the image of a “return of the old school people”.
Despite everything, Fabien Roussel seems “inaudible and not very credible” for the essayist, for whom only a “Maastrichian” candidate can win.
