In the coming year Michael Schumacher's son Mick will start in Formula 1. He retires from Formula 2 as champion.

Mick Schumacher (21), the son of racing legend Michael Schumacher (51), could not have started better in Formula 1. The young racing driver only took 18th place in the final race of the season in Bahrain on December 6, but that was enough for him to become Formula 2 world champion. After Nico Rosberg (35), Timo Glock (38) and Nico Hülkenberg (33), he is the fourth German Champion.

"We made it"

"We did it," wrote Mick Schumacher on Instagram about a picture that shows him as a world champion. "JAAAA, Mick. Boy, that was an epic finale," congratulated the US racing team Haas on Instagram, for whom the 21-year-old will drive in Formula 1 for the first time in the coming season.

At the beginning of December, Haas and Schumacher announced that he had been signed for several years and that he would do his laps in the premier class of motorsport from 2021. "I always believed that this dream would come true," commented Schumacher on his commitment. It is an "unbelievable feeling" to be able to drive the Haas F1 team from next year onwards, he could not be "happier".
