Minecraft: Java and Bedrock versions now sold together

If Minecraft players were able to welcome the Wild Update on June 7, this is not the only novelty that the title of Mojang Studios welcomed. Indeed, on the official website of the game, the developers also announced that players can now enjoy both versions of the title: the Java Edition and the Bedrock Edition.

Minecraft now offers both versions

If you’ve been playing Minecraft for years, you’ve probably got the Java Edition, since it’s the original version of the game, with Bedrock not appearing until much later. But then, what is the difference between the Java and Bedrock edition of Minecraft?

For simplicity, the java version of the cubic title allows a lot of things including the addition of several mods like Forge or WorldEdit and some Shaders, but also the possibility of creating and playing on huge multiplayer servers. It is much more interesting if you have a particular affection for the creative mode (build) but also if you really want to have fun with the thousands of downloadable mods on the internet.

As for Bedrock versionthe gaming experience is a little more restricted since the mods mentioned above are not available there, but it still has the merit of allowing players to join each other regardless of the platform, unlike the Java version which only allows PC players to play together.

Now that you know more or less the differences between these two editions, let’s get back to the heart of the matter.

Mojang Studios has indeed announced on the official Minecraft website that from now on, you will no longer need to choose between this or that version of the game when buying since you can now have both editions. Don’t worry, you don’t have to pay twice for the game: if you buy the Java version you will enjoy the Bedrock version for free, and vice versa. As for those who already have the game with one of the versions, you will see the other edition appear in your launcher, and you will now have access to it, completely free of charge.

However, the developers have announced that it may take 2-3 days, so don’t worry if you don’t have direct access to it. Patience is a virtue !

Furthermore, it is worth pointing out that the Java and Bedrock versions will remain separate games with their own characteristics. The only difference is that now you get both by default when you buy Minecraft for your Windows PC, and you can access them from the same launcher.

Since June 7, Minecraft players have been able to welcome this summer’s major update with the Wild Update. This is therefore version 1.19 of the cubic title from Mojang Studios, and it obviously brings its share of new features.
