Mirja Boes, 52, talks about her children. The comedian is the mother of two sons aged eleven and 13. The boys don’t always share their mother’s sense of humor – but with her participation in “LOL: Last One Laughing,” Boes was able to make even her laugh. “My sons celebrated that I took part. My older son wanted to go to the premiere in Munich,” explains the comedy star in an interview with the magazine “Bunte”.

For once, Michel and Matti are proud of their mother because “LOL” is also seen by their friends. “Otherwise I’m often embarrassed by them. That’s because of puberty and my job,” explains Boes. Her two sons are very different. “Matti is a lot like me, while Michel is very cerebral and revolves around his own universe,” says the 52-year-old.

“For parents, puberty is the gateway to hell.”

The puberty of her children presents Mirja Boes with challenges. “Sometimes my sons also say: ‘That joke isn’t funny’. They just don’t understand it. For parents, puberty is the gateway to hell,” she reports. Gaming is particularly a topic for her sons. “My friend and I are bourgeois about it, we limit it in terms of time and once I even turned the fuse out,” says Boes in an interview.

Boes’ continues to be happily in a relationship with the father of her two sons. She keeps her partner’s identity secret. “My boyfriend has a normal job and wants to stay in the background,” she emphasizes.

“LOL” is very popular

It’s not just Mirja Boes’ sons who are enthusiastic about “LOL”. The first season of the German version of “LOL: Last One Laughing” was released in 2021. In the star-studded show, comedians are locked in a small space for hours and have to adhere to one rule: they are not allowed to laugh. The concept was so well received by viewers that four more seasons and a Christmas special have already been produced. In autumn you can also look forward to a Halloween special. In addition to Mirja Boes, the fifth season also features Otto Waalkes, 75, Olaf Schubert, 56, and Hazel Brugger, 30.
