A sexual counselor will be Miss Germany 2024? It would be possible. Mignon Kowollik has already made it into the top 10. Your mission? Enlightenment.
One of this year’s finalists is sex counselor, presenter and speaker Mignon Kowollik. Her topic: education and removal of taboos about sexuality. Because: Women still know far too little about sex, but also about their own bodies, she says.

The jury also sees that the topic is relevant. After all, Mignon has already made it into the top 10. But your participation also shows how the Miss Germany election has changed. At 42 years old, she is the oldest participant ever. Last year the age limit was 38, and pregnant women or mothers were not allowed to attend for a long time. This is no longer a problem now. And now that Mignon has made it this far, she of course wants to win: “I want to be honest: the goal is to become Miss Germany.”
She would like to use the prize money to set up a practice group; she currently provides advice mainly online. That’s great, of course, because it can be designed so flexibly, but at the same time sometimes you need to sit face to face with one another.
Mignon is currently completing further training in women’s health and deals with the complex of menopause and sexuality, but also advises on pain during sex and orgasm problems for women, while men usually come to her with the topics of cheating, sex addiction or unspoken sexual fantasies.
“Almost every woman has a concern”
She also notices when she talks to others that her profession hits a nerve.
“When I say I’m a sex counselor, a lot of people ask me for my card.” Almost every woman has a concern and it often has something to do with communication. That’s why Mignon is currently training to become a psychotherapeutic alternative practitioner. Some problems are not anatomically caused at all, but are in the head or are a combination of both. In order to get to the bottom of the causes, they usually have to delve into childhood. “How did you grow up? How was sexuality discussed in your family? But also: What role does religion play?” – Questions that Mignon asks her clients.
“I have a case that I’ve looked after for a long time. He’s in a relationship, wants to get married and have children. He loves her more than anything, but goes to a dominatrix. He was raised very strictly as a Catholic. His belief: You’re not allowed to have women cause suffering, so it’s only fair if women cause him suffering. He also wanted to hear from me what a bad person he is for cheating on his girlfriend and that he needs to be punished for it. But it’s my job , to see what he needs and if that means that he has to continue to go there because otherwise both he and the work will suffer, then that’s it. Why should I break something that otherwise works? If this But if a person is suffering because they have a secret, then I recommend telling your partner.”
Women today are more concerned with their needs
In love there are no guarantees, but there are different needs that we should talk about more. A good example of this is Gen Z, the generation that was born around the turn of the millennium. She’s growing up completely differently, is much more open and can differentiate much better between love and sex. It’s really exciting to see how that develops. “There is no right or wrong, just different.” This is also shown by the results of the most recent study by the dating platform Ashley Madison, for which Mignon also works as a consultant. Gen Z in particular has realized that you can have sex with more than one person to satisfy your own needs. “Women are even more active than men. Which is always surprising. But women also pursue their needs more and experiment more.”
