The “Mission: Impossible” series ends in 2024 – at least for Tom Cruise. Now the official title for the final two-parter, in which Ethan Hunt says goodbye, has been revealed.

The “Mission: Impossible” series should not end with a whimper, but with a bang. Therefore, Paramount Pictures is also ready to let the highly lucrative action franchise end in 2024 – at least officially.
What is certain is that the 8th part of the “Mission: Impossible” series will be the last film with Tom Cruise, who played the leading role in all films. Of course it is possible at a later date that new “M:I” films will appear without Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, but for the time being two final Cruise films are still waiting for us.
Not only was the first trailer for the 7th “Mission: Impossible” film shown at the CinemaCon in Las Vegas, a title has finally been confirmed. “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part 1” will start in cinemas in July 2023, “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part 2” is currently being filmed and is scheduled to follow in June 2024.
Similar to the trailer for “Avatar 2”, the trailer for “Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning – Part 1” was not published online immediately after the premiere at CinemaCon. Instead, the trailer for “M:I 7” should officially run in cinemas before “Top Gun: Maverick”.
It remains to be seen whether Tom Cruise’s times as an action star are over with the end of “Mission: Impossible”. Cruise himself would certainly be willing to do more stunts, but with his increasing age it is becoming increasingly difficult to insure the daring action maneuvers. A dilemma, the quiet dramas with Cruise have it much harder at the box office.
