The main Moldovan airline, Air Moldova, has finally given up resuming its commercial flights to Moscow as it announced last week, in the midst of the conflict in Ukraine.
“The Civil Aviation Authority of the Republic of Moldova has issued an operational directive (…) which prohibits national companies from carrying out flights in the airspace of Russia“said Air Moldova in a press release published on Sunday evening September 11. “Therefore, Air Moldova will not be able to operate flights between Chisinau and Moscow, which were previously announced for October 1.“, she added.

The Moldovan company announced on Friday the resumption on October 1 of flights to Russia, interrupted following the outbreak of the Russian offensive against Ukraine on February 24. Moldova, a small country of 2.6 million inhabitants who has been a candidate since the end of June to join the European Union, is close to Ukraine.
