“Moon Knight” with Oscar Isaac: First trailer for probably the darkest Marvel series

Like every year, the 2022 Marvel Cinematic Universe schedule is pretty busy. In addition to films such as “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” (theatrical release: May 6, 2022), “Thor: Love and Thunder” (theatrical release: July 8, 2022) and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” (theatrical release: November 11 2022) some series from the Marvel universe will also appear on the streaming provider Disney+: One of them is “Moon Knight” with Oscar Isaac (“Dune”) in the leading role.

This comic book hero is often referred to as Marvel’s Batman. Because he is not only an excellent detective and extremely well-versed in close combat, but similar to the dark knight from the DC Comics brings with him a dark and sometimes brutal mood. The first trailer for “Moon Knight” with Oscar Isaac shows this impressively.

In the first trailer of “Moon Knight” you can see the protagonist Steven Grant (Oscar Isaac) right at the beginning, who sells souvenirs in a museum shop. He suffers from a dissociative identity disorder, which causes him sleep problems and loss of reality with sometimes horrific hallucinations. One of his identities is the mercenary Marc Spector. And his enemies under the mysterious cult leader Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke) are on the rise. But a hidden power slumbers in Steven/Marc: He was chosen by the Egyptian moon god Konshu and is endowed with supernatural powers.

Disturbing hallucinations, Egyptian mythology and a dark mood: At first glance, “Moon Knight” seems to be a real highlight – even if the title character is not necessarily one of the first guard of Marvel heroes. Because you won’t find an atmosphere like the one promised in the trailer in the other more family-friendly MCU projects. And if you trust the first moving image, Oscar Isaac, who last shone in the mini-series “Scenes from a Marriage”, not only lets off steam in “Moon Knight” as an actor, but is also allowed to dish out properly. In addition, he is supported by the multiple Oscar-nominated Ethan Hawk, who certainly knows how to convince in the role of the cult leader.

Moon Knight, starring Oscar Isaac, is available on Disney+ March 30. The series will consist of six episodes of 40 to 50 minutes each, which will probably appear on a weekly basis as usual.
