PARIS (Reuters) – The French Foreign Minister announced on Friday in Rabat the resumption of “normal consular activity” between France and Morocco, with the desire to put an end to the “visa crisis” between the two countries .

“Know that we have taken measures with our Moroccan partners for the resumption of normal consular activity,” said Catherine Colonna during a joint press conference with her Moroccan counterpart Nasser Bourita.

Relations between Paris and Rabat had been tense since the decision of the French authorities, in September 2021, to reduce by 50% the number of visas granted to Algeria and Morocco, citing the lack of cooperation of these two countries in the procedures of readmission of their nationals expelled from France.
