Timo Meier has achieved something sensational in the NHL: in San Jose’s 6-2 win against the Kings, the Appenzeller put together a five-pack.

On Tuesday night, a Swiss made history in the best ice hockey league in the world. 25-year-old Timo Meier was the 1st player for the San Jose Sharks to score 5 goals in a game. With Patrik Laine and Mika Zibanejad only 2 other active NHL players have managed this feat.

Meier already scored a hat trick in the first period, followed by a brace in the middle period. His goal to make it 5:1, curled into the crossbar, was an eye-catcher. The striker skilfully delayed the record goal to make it 6:1 and then sank ice cold. Meier now has 45 scorer points (20 goals) after 34 games.

Moser meets and wins

Janis Moser and Kevin Fiala were also successful in front of goal: Moser scored in Arizona’s 5-2 win against Montreal to make it 3-1, Fiala made it 2-1 against Colorado, but had to leave the ice with Minnesota as losers (3:4nP). Detroit’s Pius Suter (3:2 nV against Buffalo) and Chicago’s Philipp Kurashev (2:3 nP against Seattle) remained without a scorer point.
