Mountain rescue operation – woman fell while collecting herbs

In the steep, pathless terrain on the southern slopes of the Gerlitze, a victim lost her footing: the mountain rescuers had to move out and bring the injured person down to the valley.

On Monday afternoon, the 58-year-old and her husband met in the forest to collect spring herbs. However, in the steep terrain, the person who met her lost her footing, fell and injured her ankle. Her husband alerted the rescuers, the Villach mountain rescue service, the Sattendorf police station and the Carinthian Red Cross immediately responded. Using a rope rescue, the patient was able to be rappelled down and handed over to the rescue team.
