Announced at the end of 2021, MultiVersus is a multiplayer fighting game, which we can call Smash Bros-like, since the gameplay mechanics are, it seems, quite similar. If its release, or at least its open beta, is imminent, according to leaks, the studio could have teased the presence of one or more iconic characters from Lord of the Rings.
Already, before its officialization, leaks mentioned the presence of Gandalf in the game, although this has not yet been confirmed. More recently, the MultiVersus Twitter account posted two images, and one of them may feature the Eye of Sauron, a direct reference to Lord of the Rings. What’s more, the tweet caption is also a nod to the universe created by JRR Tolkien.

The officialization of this collaboration, which would allow to play several characters, Gandalf and Legolas, and possibly to place the players on a map with some references to the films, could be done shortly, at the same time as the announcement from the release or open beta of MultiVersus.
In any case, we remember that MultiVersus will arrive in free-to-play on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Series, and no Switch version is currently in the program.
