Munich fire department rescues unusual Oktoberfest visitor

The Munich fire department rescued an extraordinary guest who had gotten lost at the Oktoberfest police station.

In the press portal “blaulicht.de”, the Munich fire department reported an unusual incident at the Oktoberfest on September 22nd. A very small guest got lost in the police station at the Oktoberfest.

Bird in the police station

“There are lots of colorful birds to see at the Oktoberfest. And some of them always end up in the police station. But this time a bird came voluntarily,” the message begins.

The police officers’ involuntary visitor was literally a bird, a small songbird. Once he took a wrong turn and was unable to get out of the station on his own. On the contrary: In increasing panic, he was finally hopelessly “trapped” in the dome of light.

Fire brigade rushes to the rescue

Since the police officers were unable to rescue the winged intruder from his predicament, they turned to the professional fire brigade, who were also present on site. They were exactly the right people to contact: They used the ladder of their fire truck, a young colleague climbed up and finally caught the bird.

Vogel remained uninjured

The little songbird had apparently survived its trip without any injuries and was allowed to fly to freedom – the Oktoberfest guard’s operations officers agreed “without any further police action” after taking a few photos.

The Oktoberfest has been positive so far

In their press portal, the Munich firefighters have so far drawn a positive assessment of the Oktoberfest. They are out and about on the festival grounds with up to 26 officers – for the safety of everyone. “The main focus is on prevention,” it says. A working day means walking around twelve kilometers – and ladders are sometimes used.
