We suspected that the Watch 2 Pro would not stay alone for long. To complete its range of connected watches under Wear OS, it is therefore a Watch 2 “simply” that Xiaomi is making official at the MWC in Barcelona. A model that is a little more affordable than its predecessor, but not more compact.

It is indeed a tocante with the 1.43 inch screen, that is to say the same diagonal, that Xiaomi delivers. It displays the same definition of 466 x 466 pixels, with a brightness still announced at 600 nits. The watch is powered by a Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 chip, again identical, and houses the same 495 mAh battery: Xiaomi still announces a battery life of 65 hours. On the other hand, the watch is only available in wifi/Bluetooth version (5.2), unlike the Watch 2 Pro, available in an LTE version. The other visible difference is due to the design of the device: the crown of the Pro model gives way to buttons that are less “watchmaking”, and more in the spirit of current connected watches. We also note that the impedance sensor is not available on this model, which relies solely on the heart rate monitor for health data.

For the rest, this Watch 2 is intended to be a complete watch, covering 160 types of sporting activities, including winter sports, a new feature. A dual-band GPS is also included to better track outdoor routes. Xiaomi also announces that it has improved its sleep tracking algorithms. Everything will be priced at €199.99, or €70 less than the Watch2 Pro (Bluetooth) when it was released.

The watch does not arrive alone, since Xiaomi is also launching the Watch S3, already made official in China in fall 2023. The device looks a lot like the Watch 2, with its 1, 43 inch of 466 x 466 pixels, but differs from this by its system of interchangeable glasses, to personalize its design. Its strong point is its autonomy: its 486 mAh battery, associated with the Hyper OS operating system (used in the 14 series of smartphones), allows the brand to announce up to ’15 days of endurance. The user loses Wear OS, but in favor of much greater endurance; he can also connect his watch to an iPhone from iOS 12. Finally, count on monitoring of 150 sports and measurements of heart rate and blood pressure. Its price is even more affordable, since it does not exceed €149.99.

The latest product to be worn on the wrist, the Smard Band 8 Pro is also arriving on the European market, after its official release in China. The tracker, big brother of the Smart Band 8 tested on The Digitals, gains a larger rectangular screen (1.74 inch, Oled, 336 x 480 pixels and up to 600 nits), allowing notifications and sports information to be displayed more comfortably. Its main advantage: it includes dual-band GPS, while the Smart Band 8 relies on that of the smartphone to which it is connected. Xiaomi nevertheless announces an autonomy of two weeks for this waterproof bracelet, and it is also designed to track around 150 sporting activities. Its price increases less than its display: count on €79.99, compared to €39.99 for the classic Smart Band 8.
