Nadine Trintignant reveals her last moving exchange with her daughter Marie on the day of her death

On the occasion of the upcoming broadcast on Arte of the documentary on the life of Marie Trintignant, directed by her mother Nadine, the latter revealed one of her last exchanges on the day of her death.

Marie Trintignant, your shattered dreams retraces the journey of the actress Marie Trintignant. Broadcast on Wednesday January 26 at 10:45 p.m. on Arte, the documentary directed by the actress’s mother, Nadine Trintignant, focuses on her career more than her tragic end. “I wanted to respect her by not discussing her private life but rather her professional path or her militant anger. I also meant her ability to shine the sun wherever she went.“, confided the director to our colleagues from TV Star this Monday, January 17

“The day she was killed, she arrived very happy”

Eighteen years after the death of her daughter, Nadine Trintignant relives her last weeks. “She kept telling me not to be afraid for her, that she was strong as a truck. However, two weeks before the tragedy, she had sent me an SMS, a verse from Baudelaire: ‘Be wise oh my pain and keep quieter’ and it was signed ‘Your fi-daughter beaten’. I thought at the time that she might be referring to an argument scene that we had just shot. I did not know how to decode, she confided before evoking one of their last exchange: “The day she was killed, she had arrived in the morning very happy and had slipped to me: ‘It’s settled…’. I understood that she had broken up with him and that she thought that he had accepted…“.

A broken destiny

Later on July 26, 2003, Marie Trintignant fell into a deep coma after being beaten by her (ex) companion Bertrand Cantat. After eighteen months of a tumultuous relationship with the leader of the group Noir Désir, the actress died on August 1, 2003, as a result of cerebral edema caused by his beatings. She left behind four sons. Roman, born in 1986 to Richard Kolinka, Paul, born in 1993 to François Cluzet, Léon, born in 1996 to Mathias Othnin-Girard, and Jules, born in 1998 to Samuel Benchetrit. Having become an actor like his two parents, his last son evoked, last summer, his childhood without his mother, in the pages of Gala.
