Nana: Will the "Lonely" rapper make a comeback?

Inspired by the corona pandemic, Nana, rapper of the 90s hit "Lonely", has recorded new music. Further projects are in the pipeline.

Rapper Nana (51) is back and wants to build on his successes from the 1990s. The artist, who had a real hit with "Lonely" in 1997, is daring a comeback – in many ways at the same time.

As he told the "Bild" newspaper, the corona pandemic had inspired him to record new music. "When it became clear in March that our world was going to change fundamentally and we all had to go into lockdown at home, I wanted to make my contribution." With his lockdown album, which mixes Afrobeats, Afropop and Rap, the 51-year-old wants to "make everyday life easier" for people.

"It's about time"

The musician, who has been in front of the camera for decades, studied international management or competed against Willi Herren (45) at "RTL Promiboxen", has even more plans. In his adopted home Berlin, Nana is planning a catering project: "I love to entertain people and be happy at the same time," he revealed.

A book has long been on his to-do list – about his "youthful sin", as he describes the crime he committed in 1993. At that time, Nana injured two people with a baseball bat, and a pardon saved him from jail. In the interview he said that he had learned a lot from it and had been thinking more and more about a book "that describes my view of things". "I think it's about time."
