Albert Cartier did not appreciate the debacle of his team at all on Tuesday evening in Valenciennes (6-1). Back in Lorraine, the coach of Nancy, freshly appointed to the bench of the red lantern of Ligue 2, imposed on his players training in the middle of the night, reported this Wednesday, the Est Républicain.
The Lorraine club traveled the 400 kilometers by bus that separate Valenciennes from Nancy. And when they arrived at the training center around 2 a.m., the players did not return to their homes.
At halftime of the match of the 22ndand day of Ligue 2, the Nancy coach had warned the teammates of Grégoire Lefebvre, who were largely led in the North (5-1), that they would have the right to training if they conceded a new goal in the second act. And barely five minutes after the break, they saw the Valenciennes find the net a 6and time.
Albert Cartier then kept his word. Upon getting off the bus, the entire squad headed for the club’s facilities for an indoor training session that lasted an hour. It wasn’t until around 3 a.m. that the players were able to go home and go to bed.
After 22 championship days, Nancy is in last place in the Ligue 2 standings, 9 points behind Bastia (17and). And the reception, this weekend, of Caen (14and to ten points) could be decisive in the fight for maintenance.
