Davos – Biel 8-0

At HCD, what didn’t work at all in Rappi the night before is working again: the power play. With two goals in excess, the Davos come to the 2-0 lead against Leader Biel. Whereby Biel’s defender Schneeberger and Fey look unhappy with the second goal, because Prassl can steer a Corvi pass into the goal directly in front of Van Pottelberghe.
The Bündner go to work more resolutely, want to prove that the bankruptcy against the Lakers was just a slip that stopped their series of successes after seven wins. Even with the next goal, Schneeberger is actually in his position, but cannot prevent Rasmussen from shooting on goal. The Swede distracts a sugar bowl from dirt.
Van Pottelberghe Paupe has to make way after conceding a fourth goal. Because the Davos defense is solid again, the Zealanders have neither counterattack nor breakaway chances. They are masters of the situation in their zone. And then there is Sandro Aeschlimann between the posts, who deserves the second shutout of the season with a great performance.
The Bieler have probably ticked off the game long ago. This is the only way to explain how the listless-looking Biel defender Rathgeb lets himself be overrun by HCD captain Ambühl before the 7-0 draw. The final point is another power play hit. After the Bieler had climbed the leader’s throne the night before, they left a pale impression in this duel. (NV)

If it says top game, there is not always top game inside. The duel between Friborg and Zug, however, kept what it promised from the start. A lot of speed, beautiful combinations and numerous opportunities inspire the almost 9,000 fans.
The home team has more parts of the game, but not as blatant as the shot ratio of 13: 2 after the start third would suggest. Still, Gottéron’s leadership is deserved. DiDomenico hangs up for Sprunger and the veteran hits nicely with a wrist shot. EVZ goalie Genoni is powerless, of all people Raphael Diaz, Zug’s master captain last season, cleverly takes the view of the former comrade away.
Diaz, who left Central Switzerland after the title in the spring because there was no agreement on the term of the new contract, is now really hot. Shortly after the first break, he prepared Brodin’s distractor with a shot from the blue line and after Martschini was able to reduce the gap to 1: 2 in the meantime, the defender stopped the former team’s chase with his second goal of the season.
The preliminary decision? No. Because almost out of nowhere, Zug equalizes in the final third with a double strike within 54 seconds. Suddenly the Friborg defense, which was previously so solid, is swimming. With a timeout, Coach Dubé tries to calm his players down. And has success with it. With three minutes to go, Sandro Schmid took his team back into the lead from a tight angle. Also with this hit on the ice: Raphael Diaz.
But this is not the end of this crazy top fight either. 35 seconds before the end, Kovar pushes the puck over the line to make it 4: 4. And in extra time, Lander actually shoots the guests to victory. Even the strong ex-Zug native Diaz cannot prevent that. (CS)
