Nazan Eckes has announced that her father has passed away. “Goodbye, dad,” writes the presenter on Instagram.
Nazan Eckes (45) mourns her late father. “Goodbye Dad”, the moderator writes about a completely black picture on Instagram. She also adds in Turkish that his place may be in heaven.
Numerous followers expressed their condolences in the comments. Among others, the music producer Mousse T. (55) and Janin Ullmann (40) responded to the post. “Thinking of you,” wrote the moderator to her colleague. “Much strength for you and your family!”
Nazan Eckes’ father fought Alzheimer’s disease
Last year, Eckes took a break from TV to look after her father and support her mother. “Unfortunately, my father’s Alzheimer’s disease has worsened dramatically in recent months, so that I and my siblings have to take great care of our parents and now have to be there for each other as a family,” she said in a statement at the time.
In September 2021 she had shared heartbreaking words on Instagram. At the time, the 45-year-old wrote about several pictures of herself with her parents that it would probably be the last summer in which “my father still halfway recognizes me”. Eckes wanted to see him and her “indestructibly strong mother” because a very close friend had died shortly before. For the presenter, this was “a bitter reminder of what is really important in life”.
