Neobank Bunq includes Tricount features in its new app

New version of its application, new functionalities and individual and group budget management… the Dutch neobank Bunq is optimizing its application environment with an optimistic message in the face of the crisis.

Wishing to surf on an unfavorable economic and environmental context for a majority of the population, the Dutch neobank Bunq announced then launched the 4th version of its application, including a whole host of features supposed to help its users to better manage their budget, to better share group fees and wishing to raise awareness and act on the environment.

In a live of around thirty minutes in the form of an Apple conference, the neobank, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, listed the new features of its Update 21. The latter notably includes a new interface, an overhaul of its community system and a new way of managing group expenses.

Bunq plays it even more “Super-App” banking

If we had already seen the potential of Bunq in terms of Super App from its inception, this new version only reinforces this idea. We are first entitled to the inclusion of widgets allowing to perform quick operations via pellets to be placed on the main page(s) of his smartphone as well as a new interface which optimizes the system of customizable pellets already present previously.

We are also entitled to a brand new tab Activities including a community recommendation function. The latter allowing users to find all the places that their friends like and that they themselves can recommend, all this working automatically when a payment has been made at such or such place.

Function ” group expensesis also part of the novelties, logical knowing that Bunq recently acquired Tricount, the giant of shared expense solutions. If this feature was already present before, it only concerned bank customers, which necessarily reduces its usefulness. All of this makes it possible to share expenses equitably between several users or not of the bank.

Finally, another tab is inserted into the batch: the Green Tab. Concretely, it is a kind ofgreen gamificationwhich highlights all the features that help users become CO₂-free. In fact, users making the most recommendations or having a more eco-responsible behavior, such as favoring purchases and investments in establishments that promote ecology, obtain “treesto fill their digital forest; they can then compare their score with other users. It is even possible to join a community and participate in the planting of a “virtual forest“. To see now if this initiative will be followed by the bank’s customers and will have a real impact on the planting of trees, very real this time, more than a simple ecological will under the background ofGreenwashing.

Finally, another very practical feature is also the subject of a major update. The invoice scan which, as its name suggests, allows you to take a photo of an invoice via the smartphone device and to retransmit all the information automatically in the application in order to pay it more easily via your Bunq account.

A new Web version a completely revised budgeting system

Bunq may be a neobank, but like an online bank, it also relies on a classic Web integration of its interface. The bank is taking advantage of this burst of updates to highlight its new Web interface. This takes up much better the logic of the mobile application with the pellets and above all a new security system and user authentication using the webcam.

The neobank has also reviewed its personal budget management system. It works with a system of sub-accounts automatically associated with an expense category: food, travel, car, etc. This functionality is also in the process of being patented by Bunq, visibly more advanced than the automatic categorization system of certain online banks or other neobanks. All this allows you to follow the evolution of your expenses on a day-to-day basis, and thus effectively optimize your expenses. A feature strongly highlighted by Bunq in this period when every expense counts for a majority of people.
