Netflix and Co.: Just don’t subscribe! That’s why you shouldn’t sign up for streaming service subscriptions now

NETFLIX

It’s incredibly easy to take out a subscription to one of the numerous streaming services. Netzwelt reveals why you shouldn’t do it at the moment!

  • Anyone who can live with advertising is currently looking forward to the new advertising subscriptions from Netflix and Disney+, which make streaming extremely affordable.
  • But many film and series fans are annoyed by rising prices and hope for a bargain.
  • Now the chances of special offers are as good as rare, you just have to wait a little longer.

It gets dark earlier in the evening, the temperatures drop and the Christmas markets aren’t open yet: November is the perfect time to curl up on the sofa in the evening and watch a few series and films.

Streaming services make it particularly easy; a whole world of entertainment is just a few clicks away. But if you’re thinking about subscribing to a streaming service, we recommend that you wait a little longer. It could be worth it for you!

Patience pays off

Black Friday

It sounds like a horror film (which actually exists), but it is an annual highlight for shopping fans: Black Friday. The bargain event, which always takes place on the Friday after Thanksgiving, has now been significantly expanded. Black Week now begins in many places on November 18, 2023 and almost every online retailer is offering special offers at this time.

This can also apply to streaming services! However, Black Week offers are rarely made public before the start of the bargain week, so you should just wait until then and buy or subscribe as little as possible, otherwise you might be annoyed later. But what are the chances of finding bargains on the various streaming services?

Low bargain chances on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and Disney+

Amazon Prime Video

At least Netflix and Amazon Prime Video have never taken part in short-term bargain campaigns. Although you can save money all year round with Netflix bundles and Amazon savings subscriptions, you can’t expect any offers on Black Friday.

Disney+ occasionally offers you subscriptions for 1.99 euros per month – the last time this happened was in October 2023 – but now the streaming service, like Netflix, primarily wants to promote the inexpensive advertising subscription. So you can’t expect any new bargains here either.

However, it still doesn’t hurt to just wait a little longer. The lack of Black Week deals in the past does not automatically mean that the streaming services will not surprise you with a special offer in 2023!

Good bargain prospects at Paramount+ and Wow

Paramount+

Paramount+ only launched in Germany on December 8, 2022, so the streaming service is experiencing its first Black Friday this year. In the USA, Paramount+ 2022 attracted people with an annual subscription at half the price during Black Week. The streaming service does not offer an annual subscription in this country, but a Black Friday deal is still likely.

Wow from Sky already offers you various deals. It cannot be ruled out that further offers will follow during Black Week. The prices of Wow subscriptions change throughout the year, so you should be patient here too.

By the way, the best Black Friday deals in recent years have been on Hulu and Peacock – two streaming services that can only be subscribed to via a detour in Germany. While a Hulu subscription is hardly worth it in this country, as Hulu series like “Only Murders in the Building” are shown on Disney+ in Germany, Peacock is a worthwhile purchase for film fans.
