Although it is a fictionalized story, the novel’s author Jessica Knoll revealed the year after her novel was published that she was inspired by her own experience as a victim of rape and school harassment. In terms of cinematography, the production of American Girl, which we owe to Mike Barker (The Handmaid’s Tale, Sandman, Fargo), is neat and gripping. And the film, disconcerting but engaging, can also count on the impeccable performance of Mila Kunis but also of Chiara Aurelia (revelation of the Cruel Summer series) who plays her character as a teenager. To the rest of the cast, we find finn wittrock, Connie Britton and Scoot McNairy.
