Netflix: this new Spanish series is a hit around the world and it is worth a detour!

The little girl in the snow is the name of the latest Spanish production from Netflix which is a hit on the platform. Iberian productions are more than ever on the rise!

What is it about ?

When little Amaya disappears during a parade in Málaga, a young journalist decides to do everything to help her parents find her.

The new Spanish nugget from Netflix

If you are a Netflix subscriber, you have most certainly seen the series La petite fille sous la neige on the home page. First of the top in France and in several foreign countries, this new Spanish nugget is a particularly effective thriller. Adaptation of a novel written by Javier Castillo and which will be published in France next month, it follows over several years the investigation into the disappearance of a 5-year-old girl, kidnapped under the eyes of her parents.

The first season available for a few days on the platform has generally won over viewers despite some reservations, as evidenced by the few comments available on the AlloCiné page of the series:

A classic Spanish crime thriller, but still effective and with a well-crafted scenario. Emotion and a lot of suspense, all in a dark atmosphere. The spectator is held in suspense until the end

A dark and obsessive drama that goes a bit in circles before gaining strength and depth from the 5th episode

Lots of positive things, acting, atmosphere, suspense but marred by those inevitable unbearable flashbacks that are the Netflix signature and so fashionable

The little girl under the snow indeed plays the card of suspense and mystery through characters who hide heavy secrets but who reveal themselves over the episodes. Like our heroine, a journalist suffering from PTSD after a trauma that can be guessed through her flashbacks. Milena Smit is flawless in the role, with her large dark-ringed blue eyes and piercing gaze, which brings strength and determination.

Flashbacks are a process that the series indeed uses in abundance since season 1 sails on three temporalities – not always easy to follow – between 2010, 2016 and 2019. Fortunately, it is only composed of 6 episodes of 50 minutes , which allows the action to be concise, effective and addictive, without having the usual soft belly.

With its first place in the top 10 on Netflix and its honorable rating of 3.6/5 on AlloCiné (6.9/10 on IMDB), La petite fille sous la neige could well gain even more popularity. Subscribers who have already devoured the first season are only waiting for one thing: that it be renewed for a season 2. And it’s off to a good start.
