The Netherlands will lift almost all corona measures. From June 26, the central rule will only be the distance rule of 1.5 meters, said Prime Minister Mark Rutte (54) on Friday evening in The Hague. Events where no distance can be maintained are possible if visitors show a test or vaccination certificate. This also applies to sports competitions, festivals, restaurants and theaters. The mask requirement is also almost completely lifted.
“The end of the crisis is in sight,” said Rutte, but continued to urge caution in view of new virus variants. The delta variant in particular is also spreading in the Netherlands. Because of the sharp decline in the number of infections and the progress made in the vaccination campaign, the restrictions will be lifted sooner than planned, according to the Prime Minister.
Discos and night clubs are reopening
Masks only have to be worn if the distance of 1.5 meters cannot be maintained, for example in buses and trains. So far, the mask requirement was only applicable in public spaces. Restaurants, museums and theaters are allowed to admit more visitors than before and are open to an unlimited extent. Discos and nightclubs are also reopening. From June 26th, football matches can again be shown on screens in restaurants.
The Netherlands currently has around 45 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants per week. Over 50 percent of the population received at least one dose of vaccine. About 28 percent are fully vaccinated. (SDA)
