Those who shop at Coop today should have cash in their pockets. Card payment or payment with Twint are not possible throughout Switzerland. “The technical fault has existed since this morning,” writes Coop media spokeswoman Rebecca Veiga.
It is a network problem, the solution to which is being worked on “at high pressure”.
The only exception: Postcard
Postfinance customers are lucky. Cashless payment is still possible with the Postcard.
Coop was not able to announce a solution until the evening. The reasons are still unknown. However, one can rule out that the source of the problem lies with a payment service provider. Rebecca Veiga assumes that the disruption can only be resolved on Tuesday.
Customers abandon their purchases
Meanwhile, the employees in the shops are confronted with the anger of the customers. According to online comments on various portals, many leave their purchases at the checkout. The reasons given are that they were only informed at the checkout or that they had not seen the signs.
This down day will impact sales. “We will certainly feel that,” says Coop spokeswoman Rebecca Veiga. Details on this will not be available until Tuesday at the earliest.
