However, those who know the event well have probably noticed a change: never has a ticket to the Fête du Cinéma cost so much. The price of 4 euros had settled in everyone’s mind since 2015, thanks to numerous communication operations, while the oldest probably remember a time when the ticket was even cheaper.
A discount especially in large rooms
How much does a cinema ticket really cost in France? The reality is that there is no consensus, for lack of equality between the different regions. The CNC spoke of 7.04 euros in 2021 on a national scale, while a Presse Citron survey published in 2022 rather bet on an average price of 11.28 euros, but only based on the 20 largest cities. By dropping the price of the ticket during the Film Festival to 5 euros, the organizers of the event have undoubtedly made the operation unnecessary in hundreds of establishments across France. Another reality: ticket prices have been constantly increasing for several years, which may explain why the Fête du Cinéma is in turn aligned. Still, between the 2 euros practiced between 2009 and 2011 and the 4 euros practiced between 2015 and 2022, the 5 euros requested in 2023 are heartbreaking, especially if you decide to go there with several people. With regard to the other figures of this curve, it should be noted that the oldest prices (1.5 euros per seat) were reserved for people who paid for a seat at the full price. So it’s hard to make the comparison.
At 5 euros from July 2 to 5, the Fête du Cinéma is an excellent operation in the big cities, with plenty of excellent films to see in four days. In smaller municipalities, the interest is less.
