BMW is relaunching the S 1000 RR and is now sending it winged onto the road and racetrack. The maximum torque of 113 Nm at 11,000 rpm. remains unchanged, as does the torque curve. The maximum speed is still 14,600 rpm. The shorter secondary transmission with 46 instead of 45 teeth on the sprocket also ensures that the bike “walks” noticeably better. In return, the top speed drops from 306 to 303 km/h.More flex, more stabilityThe aluminum bridge frame with the motor tilted 32 degrees forward as the supporting part remains. However, the main frame received several cut-outs in the side areas to achieve more lateral flexibility. The M chassis kit with rear lift and adjustable swing arm pivot point is standard. To bring more stability to the BMW, the geometry has been changed: the steering head angle has been made flatter by 0.5 degrees and the offset of the fork bridges reduced by three millimeters. The chain has been lengthened, resulting in a wheelbase lengthened by 16 to 1457 millimeters. BMW promises more steering precision and feedback from the front wheel. Removal of the rear wheel has been simplified with captive axle bushes and improvements to the brake system Experienced drivers can drift in with a constant slide. This is regulated via the new steering angle sensor system. Accelerating out works according to the same principle. Here, too, a drift angle can be preset, which the dynamic traction control then maintains. The M Lightweight battery is now on board as standard, to compensate for the slight additional weight caused by the winglets, for example. This keeps it roadworthy at 197 kg. With the Race package it is 195.4 kg, with the M package only 193.5 kg. The basic price rose slightly to 24,900 euros.
