Eleven years after their last album, New Kids on the Block have announced new music. The new record is scheduled to be released in May.

They’re still “kids”: Eleven years after their last album and after almost 40 years together, the US pop group New Kids on the Block has announced new music. On Monday (March 6th) the group around Jonathan Knight (55), Jordan Knight (53), Joey McIntyre (51), Donnie Wahlberg (54) and Danny Wood (54) announced announced on her Instagram account that her new album entitled “Still Kids” will be released on May 17th.

First taste of the new “New Kids on the Block” album

There is already a small foretaste of the group’s eighth studio album, which celebrated its breakthrough in the 1980s: the lead single “Kids” has been available since Tuesday. The new album “Still Kids” contains 14 songs, including collaborations with DJ Jazzy Jeff (59) and Taylor Dane (61).

In a statement, quoted from “Rolling Stone”., Donnie Wahlberg explained that the new album “more than any other” closes a circle between the band and their fans “It’s about hope and possibility and being ourselves.” Even if the title “Still Kids” suggests otherwise, the album is “the most grown-up we’ve ever made,” but at the same time “the most fun and enjoyable album we’ve ever made.”

Almost 40 years in business

New Kids on the Block was founded in 1984, two years later they released their debut album “New Kids on the Block”. “Hangin’ Tough” followed in 1988, which reached the top of the charts in the USA and also reached fourth place in Germany. With “Step by Step” from 1990, the boy band also managed to reach number one in the album charts here.

The band initially split up in 1994, but in 2008 there was a reunion with the album “The Block” and a tour. The last album to date, entitled “10,” followed in 2013.

From June 14th, “New Kids on the Block” will also be touring North America on their “Magic Summer Tour”. It is not yet known whether there will also be dates in Europe.
