New location – Villach Advent Market takes place with the 2G rule

A majority of the Villach city government has decided to hold the traditional Advent market with restrictions from November 27th. The best possible security should be guaranteed. The market is being relocated from the area around the parish church to Kaiser-Josef-Platz. There, the popular sales huts can be made accessible in a limited area in accordance with the 2G rule (vaccinated or recovered).

“In this way we guarantee that the federal government’s corona requirements can be checked at any time,” says Mayor Günther Albel. “Control wristbands for market visitors like those used in other cities are not an alternative in Villach. The state of Carinthia has clearly communicated to us that this would not comply with the law. That means we would only have to cancel the market as Plan B. ”60 percent of the Villach people vaccinated 60 percent of the Villach population have a valid vaccination certificate and would meet the 2G requirement. The main goals of the numerous winter activities in the city of Villach are in any case to distribute the flow of visitors to different locations and to be able to individually control each attraction. This is just as possible with the Winter Wunder Wald behind the former Park Hotel as it is on the ice rink in front of the town hall or the art event on Hans-Gasser-Platz. And now also at the Advent market: The operators are responsible for the legally required controls at the Ferris wheel on Nikolaiplatz and at the catering huts on the main square, which open on November 15th. City marketing has developed a concept for the new location of the Advent market on Kaiser-Josef-Platz. “We will decorate the area for Christmas and implement a guidance system in the city center in order to get people used to the still unfamiliar location”, promises STAMA managing director Claudia Kohl.
