Fitness trackers have become an integral part of many people’s lives. The trackers record biometric data and provide information about physical and mental health. The trackers are usually worn on the wrist or on the chest. A new type of tracker will soon come onto the market that measures a slightly different level of performance: a penis ring, which should be worn there, measures nocturnal erections and, according to the developers, should help in the case of impotence.
The penis ring – the first of its kind – monitors nocturnal erections. Men usually get these 3-5 times a night for a total of around 45 minutes. These erections help keep the penis healthy by occasionally flushing the organ with blood during the night. Fewer erections can indicate a health problem.
Novel health diagnosis
According to developers, the app-connected ring monitors a man’s nocturnal erections. The health of the limb is assessed on the basis of the data. If a man has fewer than three erections during sleep, this could indicate a circulatory problem or a condition such as diabetes.
The reduced blood flow to the penis can ultimately lead to the internal tissue of the organ scarring, which further restricts blood flow. One of the possible consequences: erectile dysfunction, also called potency disorder.
The new type of health tracker for men called Adam Sensor, developed by a British company, is due to hit the market in April. The cost is around 50 pounds, the equivalent of around 65 francs. (kes)
