New: Twitter integrates podcasts into its platform

Twitter is beginning to integrate podcasts into its platform via the latest Twitter Spaces update, the company announced in a blog post last week.

Adding podcasts is a natural enhancement to the Spaces tab. Launched in 2020, it functions as an audio chat room.

Since then, it has undergone many updates. On the Twitter Spaces pageTwitter says, “We’ve been testing and building this service transparently with @TwitterSpaces and your feedback to fine-tune it. We like the shape it’s taking, but there’s a lot more to come, including new ones. features and updates.”

Some conversations require more than 280 characters

The redesign of Twitter Spaces will group audio content into custom hubs by specific themes such as news, music, sports and more. Users will have easy access to a selection of live and recorded Spaces, personalized to their interests.

Twitter says it knows that some conversations require more than 280 characters and that “connecting people to the ideas, content and creators they know and love is at the heart of Twitter, no matter where the conversations take place.”

Additionally, these hubs will also feature the most popular podcasts from around the world. According to the post, 45% of people who use Twitter also listen to podcasts monthly (in the US). Twitter will suggest podcasts to users that match their interactions on the app.

For an even more personalized experience, you can “thumbs up” or “thumbs down” on a podcast to show Twitter your interests.

The “Spaces and podcasts” feature is currently in the test phase.
