New York Fashion Week: This is how fashion week works in times of Corona

New York Fashion Week starts a new fashion week on September 13th. This is how it is influenced by the corona pandemic.

This Sunday (September 13th) the starting shot for Fashion Week 2020 will be given in the fashion metropolis of New York. Despite the corona pandemic, the fashion week will take place physically for four days, supplemented by digital content. So everything as always? Not quite. Fashion fans have to expect one or the other change or even restriction.

Indoor shows without an audience

As Andrew Cuomo (62), Governor of New York, promised at the end of August, Fashion Week could take place in strict compliance with the health and safety guidelines of the US state. This means: outdoor events have a visitor limit. A maximum of 50 guests may be received, provided they wear masks, keep the minimum distance and pass a temperature control at the entrance.

Events in closed rooms must take place without spectators, but are broadcast via live stream. It is noticeable that the number of presenting designers is significantly lower than in the previous year. This is also due to the corona measures introduced. Only half of the usual labels are represented at New York Fashion Week 2020. Big names like Marc Jacobs or Michael Kors are missing. Instead, fans can look forward to shows by Jason Wu, Carolina Herrera or Tom Ford, among others.
