Mediametrie unveils the results of audiences over one year for non-stop news channels. These channels continue to progress, with audiences up in May 2022, compared to May 2021. In this study, Mediametrie also highlights another success: that of audiences for replay sites.

Almost total success for non-stop news channels. Their audiences have increased over one year, according to figures released by Mediametrie, which compared audiences for May 2022 and May 2021. Only CNews shows a slight decline in its monthly audiences over one year, with a drop of 0.2 points. This is the first time that the monthly audiences of the Canal+ group channel have fallen since January 2020.

Among its competitors, it is BFMTV which recorded the strongest increase in its monthly audiences, with a gain of 0.8 points between May 2021 and May 2022. The LCI channel achieved its best historic month in May 2022.

The replay is still gaining ground

Another lesson from these monthly audiences, Mediametrie highlights the success of replay, an increasingly common practice. For example, season 2 of the series HPI is even more watched in replay than the first, which was already breaking records. In May 2022, replay represents 28% of the audience for new episodes, compared to 22% for the first season. Same for the show Koh Lanta : the replay represents a quarter of the audience in May 2022. It was 19% in the two previous seasons.

And these increases are not unique to TF1. The replay of Married at first sight on M6 now achieves 21% of its audience in replay, against 16% the previous season. Same thing for France 3 and its fictions Murders atwhose replay audiences increased by five points over one year.
