This is one of the projects that is attracting the most attention: Harry Potter will return not in the form of films, but in that of a television series by HBO. A very large-scale project whose development is starting to take off in earnest.

Hogwarts on TV!

It was one of the shock announcements of last year: the Harry Potter saga will receive a complete reboot as a television series. For now, Warner Bros. Discovery and HBO will concoct a brand new project whose aim is to adapt JK Rowling’s books with much greater fidelity, each season telling the story of each literary volume.

At the moment, we don’t know much about the construction site other thanIt will end up on Max, the HBO platform, and Rowling will be executive producer.

However, Deadline has just revealed some important new details: the series will be produced by “Brontë Film and TV”, a production company headed by Neil Blair. And for information, Blair is nothing more and nothing less than JK Rowling’s agent!

Likewise, the media confirmed that a selection of authors had already been summoned to Los Angeles for meetings, and that those selected will then be brought to discuss their ideas directly in the United Kingdom… and potentially in front of JK Rowling.

Many screenwriters already on the scene

The other big piece of information to remember is that the storyline for the Harry Potter series is slowly being developed. Deadline thus states that four writers worked on ideas and what this TV series could look like, which is:

  • Martha Hillier, screenwriter and producer known for her work on The Last Kingdom and Versailles;
  • Kathleen Jordancreator and showrunner of Teenage Bounty Hunters for Netflix and currently creating another series, The Decameron, also for Netflix;
  • Tom Moran English screenwriter behind the series The Devil’s Hour on Prime Video;
  • Michael Leslieco-writer of the recent film The Hunger Games: The Ballad of the Serpent and the Songbird.

Finally, Deadline states that Warner Bros. could well retain several ideas from several screenwriters, therefore with the possibility of hiring not just one person, but several in this large-scale television adventure. It’s hard not to be curious…
