To hear about the game Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, we have to go back to E3 2019. During this edition, the game proudly announced that the Lego video game franchise was going to grow with a massive collection in 2020. Sadly, it’s 2022 and still no game on the horizon : announced for October 20, 2020, the collection had formalized its postponement for 2021 during gamescom 2020 to finally, in April 2021, remove any mention of a release date, plunging the launch of this Lego game into limbo the most complete.
Two years after its official announcement, Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga was, finally, back on the front of the stage at the German video game fair, gamescom, to offer an exit window, in the absence of an exact date. However, thanks to an announcement made today, the most impatient players will be able to settle for something more than a simple “Spring 2022”. And to accompany, Warner Bros. Games released a six minute long gameplay video!
Lego Star Wars takes us to the stars
The promise itself is crazy: relive all nine films of the Star Wars saga in what’s the biggest Lego game yet ! From the outset, Warner Bros. Games tells us that we can start with the trilogy of your choice : nothing prevents us from putting on the costume of Poe Dameron starting with episode VII then, a few hours later, finding the duo Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi during the events of the Phantom Menace or returning at the beginning of the saga imagined by Georges Lucas starting with the fourth part, in the company of R2-D2 and C-3PO!
In the program : action, fun and always a good dose of humor as the TT Games teams know how to do so well in games stamped Lego. For the occasion, the Skywalker Saga gets new combat mechanics, thanks to which you can untangle your enemies with great combo shots, and a particularly effective counter system ! The character roster is also impressive because it will have no less than 300 playable characters which will have a hundred vehicles.
However, not everything is played in melee and mastering the art of the blaster will allow you to open a breach in the enemy lines to complete your quest: a cover system will even give you the opportunity to protect yourself and study your enemies and then hit the mark with a well-placed shot. But the most anticipated weapon is none other than the famous lightsaber which, once again, will wreak havoc as shown in the extract broadcast by Warner Bros. Games. Beyond the weapons, the Jedi that we can embody will have the Force to progress and even act on other characters.
As you progress through the different episodes, more and more planets — in total, 23 to explore with some level of freedom — will unlock forever more adventures and action on land or in starships! In addition to the main plot missions, The Skywalker Saga is teeming with side activities to perform and valuable items to collect.
