Newspapers increase their selling price


They have to cope with a surge in paper prices of more than 50% in a year.

After having sounded the alarm bells for many months, the press found itself with its back to the wall. In this month of January, a large number of newspapers like Le Figaro (3.20 euros instead of 3 euros), Humanity, Point and Weekend release announced an increase in their newsstand prices of several cents for 2022, in order to offset the rise in paper prices. “This situation is the consequence of everything the press has been going through for several months. Today, publishers have had no choice but to pass on these increases in the price of paper ”, explains Marc Feuillée, CEO of the Figaro Group.
