Next number salad – 1000 school classes already blocked in Vienna alone?

The current jumble of numbers surrounding the exploding corona numbers is also affecting schools. While the federal government speaks of 1,900 blocked classes across Austria, according to insiders, around ten percent of the 11,400 classes are likely to be in Vienna alone. Does that match?

Since last Friday, Vienna has not been able to provide any information on how many classes in the federal capital are currently blocked because there are two or more positive cases in the class group – also because this is a very dynamic process, with many children returning home after five days every day return to face-to-face classes. 1000 classes affected, 600 of them in elementary schools According to insiders, the number of closures is now considerable! In Vienna, for example, after only 13 school days after the extended Christmas holidays, around ten percent of the classes are home-schooled. With 11,400 classes, this would mean that more than 1,000 (!) Viennese school classes are closed and around 25,000 students are taught at home. Of the 1000 closed classes, a good 600 are in Viennese elementary schools – that is, around 17 percent of the elementary school classes are already closed, as the “Krone” learned from the City of Vienna’s health service. Children affected by multiple quarantines There should also be elementary school locations in the city where more than half of the classes are affected. The schools are still open. For some classes, multiple quarantines have already become a reality in the two weeks. In other words, children who returned to the classes soon had to be sent home again due to new cases of illness. Federal figures would have to be questioned. The city announced that it would publish the specific percentage in a timely manner. So it remains exciting. Because 1000 blocked classes in Vienna alone do not match the 1900 class blocks across Austria communicated by the Ministry of Education on Tuesday.
