Nicholas Parsons: British entertainer died at 96

He was an icon of British radio and television, now Nicholas Parsons (1923-2020) died at the age of 96. The "BBC" reports, citing its agent.

The Englishman became known with the radio show "Just A Minute"; since 1967 he had moderated the game show for the BBC and did so continuously until 2018, when he had to be represented by a colleague for the first time due to illness. Parsons was always welcome as an actor; among other things he appeared in the cult series "Doctor Who" and appeared in sketch comedy formats such as the "Morecambe & Wise Show" and "The Benny Hill Show".

Colleagues mourn publicly

His colleagues vent their grief. The British fantasy author Neil Gaiman (59), for example, worked with Parsons on the filming of his novel "Good Omens"; he writes on Twitter:

"I was so looking forward to working with him. I should have given him directions, but it was like 'you're Nicholas Parsons, so just do your thing'". Gaiman also posted a photo of himself and Parsons and wrote: "I am so proud that I should be able to work with someone I have admired all my life."

Nicholas Parsons is survived by his second wife, Ann Reynolds, with whom he has been married since 1995. His two children came from his first marriage to voice actress Denise Bryer (92).
