More than 300 detainees escaped Tuesday (July 5th) from a prison near Abuja, capital of Nigeria, after an alleged attack by fighters from the jihadist group Boko Haram, the government said on Wednesday.
“We understand this is Boko Haram, they came specifically for their co-conspiratorsin Kuje Prison, Interior Ministry Secretary Shuaibu Belgore told reporters. “So far we have recovered about 300 (inmates) of the approximately 600 who have been released from the prison cells“, he added.
